I write lyrics and music simultaneously.

 

I have always done this, except for the rare occasion when I’ve written a poem and decided to put it to music.

 

Lyrics come easily to me, and they seem to carry the melody with them. If the melody is strong, I can put it to chords on my guitar and record/remember it. I rely on friends to annotate/score my music and, where it has gone into a production eg of a musical, they also do the arrangements.

I write in English and sometimes bad French.
